They may do for a few months but then you plateau (if the hunger doesn’t make you quit sooner) and gradually you put the weight back on unless you stay on a massively reduced calorie intake going forwards FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE which is actually up to 30% lower than what you ate before the low calorie diet. There is a major flaw in assuming that 2 different food types that contain the same number of calories are burned off the same way for example 2 biscuits vs a small lump of cheese. The biscuits are high carb = high glucose. Our body breaks down the sugar easily and the glucose goes straight into our blood streams and is either used for energy immediately or if there’s already too much glucose floating around it gets stored as glycogen in our muscles and liver which have limited capacity and once full gets stored as fat.
